Rain Rain Rain

The weather here has been pretty wild the last couple of days. We had deluge of rain in most parts of the state especially Gippsland in the state's southeast. There's too much rain down there and it's almost as bad as Sydney's Hunter Valley. Lots of people lost their homes and had to be evacuated, the town of Bairnsdale is totally cut off from the rest of the world with all major routes cut off by the flood water. We have a blogger friend who's working at the hospital there, it's Mei the doctor. I hope she's okay, guess she wouldn't be able to come back to Melbourne for the weekend if the situation continues...

On the other hand, the rain's done wonder to the gardens and it proves that my water-diverter and the water storing drum I set up over the weekend works! This morning I found the drum filled to the brink with water and overflowing. I may need to get another drum or get a larger tank.

Find Your Best Friend

As a blogger I get to know many other bloggers over the internet from across the world which is a good thing because I’ve made friends with many people. I have friends all over the world! This was proven true when I went back to Malaysia and met up with all my blogger friends that I’ve never met before.

We all started getting to know each other when we leave comments in each other’s blogs. Then we started chatting with each other on MSN and that’s when things started getting more and more intimate. There’s this blogger friend who I could really connect with when we are chatting. We could talk about anything and everything, we confide in each other our most intimate secrets. It’s good that we have each other to fall back on when we’re down and we can always count on each other for emotional support. We got to meet when I went to Malaysia and it was great meeting her. We clicked right away, talked for ever and laughed to our hearts’ contents.

Sometimes our best friend and soul mate can be found just a few clicks away. Another way of meeting friends is through FriendFinder, a user friendly and easy way to meet new people. The thing I like about this site is its fun way of meeting people, no pressure, just easy going people like you and I wanting to meet you and I!

Hijackqueen and I were on MSN one day and I mentioned about how loud my snoring is so she said its to do with my health and recommended I start taking Spirulina and I said; "Spider Lina what?" to which she explained is some kind of algae that's good for our health. Eww...algae!

She said she's been taking it for 8 years liao and swear by it and recommends to every Dick and Harry she knows like her friend's child who was a snorer also but after taking it the snoring stopped. "Wuah! Magic pills I must try!" said I and off to Google I went and found an Australian site where they sell some thats made here in Oz. I didn't even pay much attention to the website but Hijackqueen read the page and found that they give free sample to anywhere in Australia so I mah asked for sample lor.

Today the sample arrived, it came in a bottle of 100 tablets with a brochure, order form in case I love it so much I wanna order straight away and a CD containing what I also dunno. Haven't check it out yet but I opened the bottle and golly gosh gosh! It has the most awful smell imaginable! How can I swallow something that smells so terrible wor?! Let me think about it first before I venture into the unknown world of smelly green algae Spirulina. But if you know about this product do let me know ya!

AirAsia I will fly again!

Read my yesterday's post on AirAsia before you read this so you have a gist of what I'm talking about. In a nut shell AirAsia decided to refund my airport tax of RM12 after 6 months!

But today I received another email from Nickee Chung of AirAsia telling me that she has checked my flight involved and found out that this particular flight was actually rescheduled to an earlier time so if we had decided to use that flight then we would've missed it! So that means we are entitled to a full refund of RM209.98 which was what I paid for! Woohoo! They're going to credit my credit card which was how I paid for the tickets so AirAsia, I will fly again!

Things to cheer me up when I'm sick

I'm sick today, stuffy and drippy nose like a tap, watery eyes, sneezing, coughing and feeling tired all the time...poor Wuching. *sobs* I need some cheering up please.

Here's something that might cheer me up. More Star Wars figurines on sale at Kmart for $10 each! This is Rep Been, advisor to the Gungan leader Boss Nass of Planet Naboo.

This one is of a Naboo soldier also from Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. I've seen these on the shelf for a long time now but didn't want to get coz I didn't quite like it but now that the price's drop might as well get one for keep sake. Who knows I might make a handsome profit in future.

Last one is Gragra, a really very minor character in Episode 1 also. If you blink you miss her coz she's the hawker selling frogs on the street and Jar Jar Binks snatched one off the rack but got in trouble with Sebulba.

Hmm...I'm still sick though. *cough*

Keep Your Cash, Use Coupons!

Terese and I like shopping at Walmart but lately we’ve been doing most of our shopping online on their website. So it’s always good news when we discover that we can save significantly off the normal retail price when we shop using coupons we get from KeepCash.com.

There are thousands of store coupons available for us saving us all lots of money if we do our shopping this way. Just some of the more popular stores at KeepCash are Walmart, Target, Circuit City and Activa and all these coupons are free so what better way of saving money than to take advantage of this great site!

No more Mr. Nice Guy

Lately my house has been invaded by thousands of little critters call ants! Not as bad as fire ants but damn annoying. They appear at the most unusual places, what would ants be doing in the bathroom and the toilet for?

It's obvious there's no food in the bathroom nor the toilet but I see them busy marching happily along their ant trails. The bathroom is upstairs and yet they manage to find their way up from downstairs! It's amazing what these little critters can do.

This morning when I woke up I saw that they've found their way into my kitchen. Wuah! So many of them! They were all heading straight to the bottle of honey we left on the kitchen table and crawling all over it! Spent a good half an hour killing them and cleaning up the mess.

This is it! I've declared war on them! From now on no more Mr. Nice Guy. I'm going to kill every ant I see, show no mercy, wipe them out completely! I've set up ant baits all over the place so when they come in contact with it will bring back to their queen and kill her! Muahahahahaha...

Send 'em packing

I dread moving house, the organization, packing and unpacking and back breaking lifting are not what I look forward in my moving. I always had to find odd boxes and bubble wrap from work for the packing but next time I know where I can get some proper packaging materials at ThePackingStation.co.uk where you can find literally any type of boxes you need.

Apart from packaging materials they also stock mailroom sorters and tables, mobile units for your bubble wrap, packing benches if you have much packing to do and even strapping equipments. These are items that my work can use so I need to email my boss their link too!

Not just boxes, they have other packaging materials as well like different types of envelopes, CD mailers, postal Tubes and gift wrappings! Order online and they can deliver anywhere in the UK for a standard carriage fee of £ 7.50 but order more than £ 70 will be free.

Home Studio

Remember that video I made for the PPP post? Well how would you like to go backstage to see how the video was shot? Hahahahahaha...welcome to my home-made studio!

Very simple setup, I used 2 free standing reading lamps as lighting. One is not enough coz the light is only 40W so I had to use 2 lamps. Just shoot the whole video with my el-cheapo Traveler Camcorder attached to the gorillapod wrapped around the tripod coz the screw on the tripod rosak ledi!

So there you have it, anyone can have a home studio for making your own home made videos in the living room lah, backyard lah or even the bedroom! Go make one and YouTube it!

Your Eye On The World Wide Web

With the advance of the internet there are publicly accessible documents on the World Wide Web that can be defamatory and detrimental to certain companies and corporations. These documents may be a violation of companies copy rights, trademarks or not abiding confidential guidelines of the companies and are usually leaked out by ex-staff, disgruntled associates or even careless employees and usually the companies involved are not aware of the danger until damages have been done.

It is of the utmost importance nowadays that companies put more resources into the information security of their companies and this is where webArgos comes in. webArgos can help you find and eliminate these damaging documents on the World Wide Web. Clients can log in to their website to view potential threats and choose which ones they want webArgos to act on their behalf. webArgos will try by non-legal techniques and relevant relationship to get the issue resolved before pursuing legal action against the offender which would be of the last resort.

Smallest Cheque I've Ever Received

A long time ago in Australia there was only one telecommunication company and that was Telecom Australia. Then came Optus and there was competition and soon there was more telephony companies joining the competition like Primus Telecom which is who I'm with at the moment and others.

So to make themselves more competitive Telecom Australia had a revamp of the whole organisation and changed their name to Telstra thinking that would be a cooler name and would appeal to customers more but needless to say that though they are still the biggest telecommunication company in the country their customer service is one to be desired. There's even a hate Telstra users club whereby disgruntled customers can vent their angers at the giant telecommunication company.

I've always been with Telstra simply because there was no reason to leave until nearly a year ago when Primus offered me a good deal to bundle my home phone with my broadband together and that's when I left Telstra. Now because we have to pay our line rentals in advance we had some unused money with Telstra. The amount was only minimal, $5.52 to be exact and do you think Telstra would reimburse us for it? No, Telstra just left the money in our account as a credit note! They were so sure that we will return to them in the future and will continue with our account with them again.

Well guess what? Telstra was right coz now I've decided to go back to Telstra only because I'm changing my internet service provider for adsl2 reason and the new provider requires my home phone line be a Telstra line instead of a Primus line. So I have to change back but dunno why and how, we have to start up a new account with Telstra now and they've decided to close the old account and refund our $5.52 after nearly a year sitting in the account doing nothing but earning interest for Telstra! I nearly fell over backward when I saw a cheque in the mail today from Telstra for $5.52 laughing out loud! This is the smallest amount on a cheque I've ever received.

Lucky Day For Me

Today I nearly got caught speeding but lucky I no speed! Its lidis, I catch snake and went yumcha with a friend of ours after she gave me free haircut. So after yumcha as I was driving out onto the street I saw the speed limit changed from 70 km/h to 40 km/h due to roadwork.

Not only that I also notice a sign displaying the speed of every car that drove along the road and then I saw these 2 policemen by the roadside with their speed guns pointing at every car driving past. They wanna catch anyone going over 40 km/h but lucky I was only doing 25 km/h coz I suspicious mah!

After I drove past them I stop by the roadside to take pictures of them and sure enough they caught a victim. This poor lady didn't even know she was going over the speed limit! Expensive lesson learned.

Then after I went to the shop and found this Star Wars figurine going cheap so I buy lor! $10 nia normal price is $15 but if normal price I won't get this one coz I no like too much. And since its reduced I'm happy to buy lah just to add to collection.

Tight Arse Tuesday

Today is Tight Arse Tuesday, the one day of the week when businesses are so slow and quiet that a lot of businesses have decided to offer discounted or cheaper prices for their products.

Cinemas offer cheap tickets on Tuesdays, bowling centers offer special prices, petrol stations charge the least on Tuesday and even my local video store also offer $2 for any movies including the latest releases. Being the tight arse foochow that I am, I always fill up my car on Tuesday just so I can save a few cents off a litre than if I were to fill up on the weekends when it's the most expensive.

Another thing I like to do on Tight Arse Tuesday also is rent DVDs from my local video store because their offer on Tight Arse Tuesday is $2 for any movies including the latest releases. See when a new movie comes out on Wednesday I can hold on till the following Tuesday before renting it. And when I rent it I copy it summore! Shhhh...don't tell ah but I expert in ripping encrypted DVD wan. Yes I know you can get lots of DVD from Uncle Ho in Malaysia but those are no good wan lah, come with silly English subtitles don't even know what they're writing about. Must've been done by the cina ahpek in China wan. I prefer the genuine DVDs coz they good quality and got extra features also and I can rip them nicely to burn to a DVD5 summore. Don't tell ah!

Survival Instinct

A new kick ass series is airing on the 28th of June and it’s none other than USA Network's Burn Notice about an ex-CIA agent Michael Weston who’s gone to work for himself helping those the police wouldn’t want to help. Having no money and no one to help you in a strange city he was thrown into, Michael Weston has only his intuition and resourcefulness to help him survive through it. Find out how he did it from this site.

There are many ways a person can learn to survive in a strange city with no money and no resources, I would rely heavily on my own intuition and wits to survive. Well like a survivor stranded on a deserted island one must first of all build a shelter. There are a lot of charity organizations in any city that might be able to help me with a warm bed and a roof over my head for the short term. I would also be able to get hot meals from these charity organizations like the churches or the Salvation Army.

Then with my most basic needs looked after I can proceed to look for a job, any kind of work that will earn myself some cash will be good. It doesn’t have to be my dream job but as long as I can earn something which I can manage to save enough money I’ll be able to afford a more decent place to live, clean clothes and feed myself.

So there’s always a survivor instinct in all of us and when push comes to shaft, we will do whatever is necessary to survive. It’s our survival instinct.

My Miracle Mom: Part III

I got an email from my brother in Singapore where my Mum's been living with. Mum's been complaining about her health and she's just came back from seeing the Oncologist.

The Oncologist doesn't think her problems are caused by cancer. In fact there's no sign of cancer growth in her body now but scan of her brain did detect damage done by the treatments she received before most likely radiotherapy. She has frequent mood swings and gets snappy with no apparent reason. The doctor recommends psychiatrist treatments and medication to control her moods but she thinks she knows better and that's to go back to Sibu where she's happier with more social interaction. But I guarantee she's going to complain again after a few weeks in Sibu and want to move back to Singapore again. There's just no pleasing her, no one knows what to do with her. How do you reason to an old mother who's behavior is that of a child most of the time?

Secret Agent Wuching!

Great news people, there's a new TV series coming out on the 28th of June. It's the new USA Network's Burn Notice about an ex-CIA agent Michael Weston using his training to help those in need. Michael Weston is also a resourceful spy who can use just about any household items and turn them into gadgets he can use for his work.

Check out how resourceful he can get here, there are lots of household items we can use for espionage purposes and even I know a trick or two. Check out the video below to see me working as a spy!

2007

While we're talking number plates, here's another one I saw yesterday on the way back from the shops.

At first glance I said to Terese what a great number plate to have on your car, "2007" but then I realised that it wasn't the number plate after all!

It was just a sticky the car owner thought might be cool to put on the bumper just below the real number plate. Well it got me fooled for a second but wouldn't that be illegal?

Blogging Marketplace Secures $7 Million Series B

Draper Fisher Jurvetson leads round and joins Board of Directors

ORLANDO, FL – (June 12, 2007) – PayPerPost, the leading marketplace for advertisers to reach bloggers and other consumer content creators, today announced it has completed a $7 million second round investment led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, an investor in the company's Series A and one of the world’s leading high-technology venture capital firms. The financing brings the total amount of capital raised by PayPerPost to over $10 million, giving the company considerable resources for further development as the industry’s leading Consumer Generated Advertising marketplace. Additional participants in the round include existing investors Inflexion Partners and Village Ventures as well as new investor DFJ Gotham. With this investment, DFJ Managing Director Josh Stein also joins PayPerPost’s Board of Directors.

“PayPerPost created this exciting new advertising space and has established itself as the industry leader,” said Ted Murphy, chief executive officer of PayPerPost. “Although we’ve only used a portion of our first round capital, this added support from investors unlocks significant growth potential. Our content creator and advertiser ROI metrics clearly demonstrate the upside for PayPerPost’s model. We intend to use this capital to build the infrastructure, visibility and professional expertise necessary to reach and retain a greater network of advertisers and content creators than ever before.”

Since its founding in June of 2006, PayPerPost has signed more than 6,500 advertisers to its groundbreaking service, which has enabled Consumer Content Creators to be compensated for their efforts discussing specific companies, products or services via blogs, videos or other media. The content creators are required to disclose relationships with advertisers on their blog, providing transparency for the end reader. Over 125,000 Internet postings, most in the form of blogs, have already earned money for their creators through PayPerPost’s innovative marketplace. PayPerPost recently released PayPerPost Direct, a disruptive new service that allows advertisers to contract and negotiate directly with individual bloggers they identify through a safe, managed system.

“PayPerPost has laid a strong foundation for the future,” noted Tim Draper, founder and managing director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson. “It continues to attract a critical mass of participants from both the advertising and blogging communities. Analogous to Overture’s sponsored search model, we believe PayPerPost’s business model holds disruptive potential and will enable the company to thrive in the evolving paid-content arena.”

To mark the $7 million dollar funding, PayPerPost has launched a new website detailing the company’s service offering at http://www.payperpost.com. Bloggers and advertisers can easily sign up at the site and begin leveraging the self service marketplace.

NICE1A

Yesterday on my way home from work I saw a car in front of me with a really cool personalized number plate.

Dunno what car that is but the number plate says; NICE1A meaning "Nice one aye!" which is an aussie expression of approval.

But if you say something similar in manglish it would probably be "Nice wan ah!" Also an expression of approval. True onot? Just thot I share this with you...

I don't take rejection well.

Remember the video of me telling the whole world how much I lafu PPP? IT GOT REJECTED!!!

KNNCCB! What a killjoy when I received an email from PPP telling me that my post has been rejected because I didn't fulfill all the requirements of that opp. Yes lah, it was quite true also because I was so nervous getting ready to go on TV I didn't read the opp description properly...my own fault lar but it meant I had to redo the video!

Hou mafam gek...though when I did the video it was a lot of fun but once was enough. Didn't know I had to do it again, totally took the joy out of it! So because I just can't say die and so money face also I redo the video and resubmitted it for approval again today. But this second video is no more fun liao coz the excitement is gone ledi...felt like doing a job rather than doing it for fun.

Heck when I just started with PPP I got rejected so many times coz I was still green then and didn't know how to do it properly. Hehehehe...now they auto-approve me summore! But not this post lah...I dunno why some get auto-approved but some posts don't. I don't care lah but we learn from our rejections and move on!
