Career in trucking

I am always amazed with the way truck drivers are able to maneuver their trucks in tight fitting corners and bends. You really need some skill to be able to drive one of those. I reckon truck drivers get paid well doing what they do and if I ever had a chance of venturing into this career I would jump on the opportunity. Of course I’ll need to get a proper CDL training before they’ll let me get behind the big wheel!

That's about it!

We're going out tonight, for people like us who don't get to go out very often this is a treat! Actually we're off to Crown to watch the premiere of that new movie Eagle Eye by Shia LaBeouf. The trailer looks good so I think I won't be dissapointed.

That's the thing with working from home, we don't get to go anywhere anymore. Everything is done at home and we only go out when running errands like pickups and deliveries. Other times I do go out was down to the local shops for food, that's about it!

More download bang for my dollar

My internet service provider has overhauled its internet plans again, I guess to keep up the competition with its rivals. Which is good because the winner is always going to be the customers like me!

So what's changed? Well I used to pay $50 for a 25 GB download with 18 GB allocated to peak hours and the other 7 GB to off peak hours between the ungodly hours of 1-7 am. Now for the same price I'm getting a whopping 50 GB download with 25 GB shared equally between peak and off peak hours. So more download bang for my dollar!

Growing up with acne

I think I’m one of those lucky guys who didn’t get a lot of acne and pimples growing up. A lot of my friends had problems with acne and pimples some worse than others. It is all part of growing up unfortunately, best we could do was try to stay on top of it by washing our faces and applying skin care products like Triclear.

Nice day today

The weather has been bad for the last few days; squally wind, freezing and wet. Today is a big difference; sunshine, light breeze, blue sky with top temperature of 18C. How I wish everyday is like today.

And to top it off I got a nice surprise in the mail today; a ticket for 2 to see the premiere of Eagle Eye at Crown next week! I won the ticket through the competition in the paper this week and I'm so looking forward to seeing this movie. Saw the trailer on TV and it looks fantastic!

Not a fan

I’ve never been a fan of private health insurance and I think a lot of people in the country would agree with me. Basically I’m paying through my nose to fund free medical services to sick people and I just feel I’m on the short end of the stick. Why can’t we just rely on the government funded Medicare system? We are already paying exorbitant taxes and the government is always boasting how much surplus they have in the coffer and yet our health system is on the brink of collapse.

I'm famished!

According to last year's figures September was a quiet month so I'm expecting a quiet month this month but holy crap it's too quiet! There's just nothing to do but pacing up and down the hallway waiting for something to happen. Sure I could go knocking at the clients' doors asking if they have any work coming up but I already know this business is seasonal so expect to find quiet times like this.

Might as well enjoy the quiet time while it lasts because you know it everyone wants their works done right away! Unfortunately that's the nature of this industry; it's either a feast or a famine and right now I'm famished!

Gaming through the years

I’ve always been a sucker for great video games. My first gaming console was the Sega Mega Drive/CD and back then they were the best console around. Later Nintendo came out with their Super Nintendo System and soon I had to get it too because the Sega system was getting kind of old. I had the SNES for a while before I upgraded to Nintendo64 and then there were a number of years that went past where I gave up on games till Wii came along. Now I have my eyes set on the PS3!

Sigh of relief

Finally after 2 months in the business money is starting to roll in. I was beginning to worry about my resources running dry before the clients start paying but lucky for me they have finally started to pay up. I can breath a sigh of relief.

But despite that there's still a couple of clients who still could not pay up yet and I'll just have to keep at them till they pay. Have to go at them easy, I don't want to loose them but at the same time I don't want to be a sucker and do their work for free.

Building wealth

There are many ways of building wealth with our hard earned savings. We could put it in a savings scheme like what the banks provide, buy and sell properties which are quite popular nowadays or be bold and invest in the stock market. For mum and dad investors venturing into the stock market may seem quite daunting so finding a broker like futures trading can help guide us in the right direction.

Meeting the new neighbors

Today I met my new neighbors. Though I've already met Joe who moved into the house about a month ago I didn't meet his family till today. They're due to move in on the 26th of this month according to Joe's wife Linda because of the kids' school term.

The kids' names are Evie and John and they look like nice kids. I also got to meet Linda's mum Thelma I think that's what her name is and John whom she lived with in Hawthorn.

Linda and the kids just came for the weekend and were heading back to the airport when I met her. They'll be back on the 26th when all their belongings will come with them from Sydney.

Protect your investments

A lot of new car owners make the mistake of not garaging their new investments from the very beginning. This subjects the cars to the elements which can ultimately lead to faster wear and tear of the body. If garage is not an option then why not consider car covers that easily slip on and off the vehicles as easy and putting on your pant!

First of the month

Today's the first of the month and it's also officially the first day of spring. Alas we can all be thawed! I learned something new from the youngsters these days and that's "A pinch and a punch on the first of the month" or something like that. Don't really know what it all means but al the kids say that.

Also the beginning of the month has always been the time when the accounts people take leave to avoid creditors calling them asking for money. I called all my clients chasing for payments and none of them was there to answer my calls! Go figure.
