I Love Getting Dirty..

The weather is getting warm now so it's time to haul my ass out and get some gardening done in the backyard. Kmart is having a sale today so I decided to get some annuals and potting mix for my little project. I bought 2 punnets of petunia at $3.19 each and a 30 litre bag of premium potting mix at $3.33 All together I spent $9.71 for the project.I'm going to plant the petunia in this saucer shape pot on a tripod stand, it will make an excellent display in my front yard when the petunia comes full bloom in a few weeks time.
First I put enough potting mix into the pot and added some general fertiliser and a bit of sulphate of potash for more brilliant blooms. Mix well and it's ready for the seedlings.
Each punnet comes with 6 seedlings, just take them out of the punnet, separate the seedlings and plant them straight into the potting mixture.
Be sure to plant them evenly spaced out to maximise compact colourful blooms, this is when it can get pretty dirty but I love getting dirty in the garden working with plants. It's good therapy for stress relief.

Lastly, water the seedlings generously to soak through the mixture and just sit the whole thing in the middle of the front lawn as a centre-piece display. A few weeks later it will be covered with lots of colourful blooms which I'll post it for you to see!

Here I Am

Google Earth is a lot of fun, I've been perving everywhere for my friends' and families' homes all over the world but the problem is it is still quite blurry.
Here's my house where the arrow is pointing, you can just make out the grey roof sandwiched between my neighbours on both sides. It's what they call a townhouse here but it resembles what they would call a terrace house in Malaysia.

This is the best I can view my house, I could zoom in further but that would make it even blurrer. That's not too bad considering how blurr it is when I tried to view..

..Sibu! I can't even see the roads let alone the houses or buildings!

And so is Kuching! If I could then I would be able to find all you bloggers living in this Cat City! MUA HA HA HA!!!

BJ's Flowers

BJ's Flowers is a florist shop owned by a friend of mine called Belinda. I got to know her through Jessica who owns a salon in the same shopping centre in Keysborough.I like Belinda's shop, it is always full of colours and perfumed flowers. Belinda also specialises in catering flowers for special events like weddings and anniversaries. The busiest time of the year for her is usually St. Valentine's Day.
Christmas and birthdays are also busy times of the year for Belinda. In fact, she's pretty much flat out most time of the year! She's already selling christmas decorations and gifts.

Master Of Hair & Beauty

This is the Master of Hair & Beauty owned by my friend Jessica which she started from scratch years ago. It is located at the Kingsclere Shopping Centre in Keysborough.Terese and I have been getting our haircuts here for many many years because Jessica is THE Master of Hair & Beauty! She is the best hair stylist in the country and I can vouch for it!
The Master of Hair & Beauty has the best hair stylists and beauticians working there and the services are exceptional and prompt. And they use the best products for their customers so you can be assured of the quality of the products used.
Their prices are very reasonable, you could find another salon charging less but I don't think you get a better job or service. Or you could pay $100.00 for a haircut at some expensive brand name franchise salon but I don't think anyone gonna know the difference.

We have known Jessica for a long time now, from the time she was dating her future husband, through their marriage, the opening of Master of Hair & Beauty and the births of all three of their children; 2 girls and a boy.

Wedgy & Bun Crack!!!

You know you have to upgrade your digital camera when it fails you at the most crucial moments like when I was at the Darebin International Sports Centre yesterday and missed out on a great opportunity for a spectacular shot!This photographer was taking some macro shots of these aboriginal elders attempting to start a fire when her thong rides up her crack. I didn't realised I captured it until I had a chance to look at the pictures when I got home. She was aware of her little problem and proceeded to hide her thong the best she could which resulted in..

..showing her bun crack instead! And this is in full view of the audience in the centre that were there yesterday. Like I said, I need to get a better camera and she needs to wear a longer jacket!

Gearing Up For The Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games is going to be held in Melbourne next year and everywhere in Melbourne works are being done to get all the facilities ready for it.The Darebin International Sports Centre(DISC) in Thornbury had an open day today to formerly open the newly built centre that will host some of the games which include cycling, indoor soccer and lawn bowling.
We got there quite early so we had to sit through the boring speeches by the politicians about what a marvellous job they've done with my tax dollars!
Then there was a Aboriginal ceremony to bless the centre by playing digiridoos and starting a fire by sticks and dry grasses or something, they did managed to start a fire, just not enough to burn the place down!
When all the formalities were over there were guided tours showing off the centre on how they built the roof, the tracks and so on.
There were already people using the centre for their trainings like these cyclists so we decided to go down to have a closer look.
Most people here were just having fun and talking among themselves and then this lovely lady named Val Gillies was kind enough to ask us to give lawn bowling a go. We accepted because we've never try it before.

That's me giving it a go with Val instructing me. Most people think lawn bowling is a senior citizen sport but it's actually gaining popularity among the younger generation. I guess they're trying to get more young people to develop an interest in the game.

Well I gave it a go but I don't think I'll be picking it up as my sport anytime soon.

Wagging Work

The other day at work it was so quiet and I was bored out of my mind so I decided to go for a drive down the beach with Terese.Haven't been down here for a while now and found it too quiet on the road especially when this place is usually buzzing with cars and people on the weekends.
The weather wasn't that great, overcast and windy but good for a drive nonetheless. I can see the Spirit of Tasmania in the distance now.
Some wind surfers enjoying the day when there's no one to share the beach with. There's that ship again with the Westgate Bridge behind it.
The building on the pier used to be over 100 years old but it got burnt down a couple of years ago and now they're building another one in the original design for nostalgic sake. It served as a restaurant, I've been there a few time before and I'm looking forward to visit again when they finish fixing it up.
This is the Bo Jango building where in the 70's a notorious gangster here called Chopper Reed shot and killed his "friend" in the face. It was in a stage of disrepair for a number of years but someone's done it up and now I think it's a gym but I'm not sure.
Then I drove past Luna Park amusement park but it's closed like everything here on a weekday. I've only been here once but I didn't enjoy it so I guess that's why I've never been back. They have another one in Sydney and I think that one is much bigger and brighter and better.
We're driving down Acland Street in St.Kilda now, this is the place to hang out if you come down to St. Kilda the seedy part of Melbourne.
On my way back I saw this restaurant called Ping and it reminded me of PPS! Stupid PPS is still down so no pinging for me!
There are lots of nice apartment buildings here and this is one of the more fancy ones, would be nice to live here by the beach but maybe in my next life.

Let's Sail Away To Tasmania

This is the Spirit of Tasmania II one of three passenger liners that ferry you from Melbourne to Devonport in Tasmania across the Bass Strait .The Spirit of Tasmania I & II ferry passengers from Melbourne to Devonport and the Spirit of Tasmania III ferry passengers from Sydney to Devonport. The Spirit of Tasmania I & II were built in 1998 and have an overall length of 194.3 metres, 25 metre width and a gross tonnage of 29,067 tonnes each. They both have 750 berths, 222 cabins, 146 Business Class Seats, 126 Cruise Seats and a holding capacity of 300 cars and 40 semi trailers.

The Spirit of Tasmania is a great way to travel to Tasmania and anyone planning to fly to Tasmania might want to consider this option to experience the fun while getting there.

PPS Is Dead!

It has been 2 days since PPS was forced to halt it's pinging service due to a massive spam attack. This has an adverse effect on my blog's hits everyday.
The last announcement from PPS is that the problem won't be fixed till the weekend which means it is going to be a slow week for my counter! Oh well, what can you do but hope the server will be up and running real soon. Maybe it's time for a little hiatus so until PPS comes back online, there will be very little or no updates at all from the land of the Whills!

Free Bingo!

Everybody loves something for nothing who doesn't, in the world where everything has to be paid for it's good to know something's still free, or is it?This gaming venue is offering free bingo on Monday and Friday 9.30am till 11.30am and it's attracting a lot of customers, they are lining up outside the front door before it's even open. It never fail, I see them every Monday and Friday on my way to work. The sad thing is they are mostly pensioners who don't have much to spend but thank god for FREE BINGO! But once it's past 11.30am no more free bingo! By then they are hooked and their asses are glued to the chairs and they can't get up anymore. So play on they will, some may win some money(good on them) but most will lose their money usually their pension allowances, poor old pensioners.

But they'll be back again next week when they get their pensions and they can still enjoy their FREE BINGO!

Ninja Attacks!

Saw this group of amateur movie makers shooting a scene for their movie the other day and I just had to take a picture of it..
Looks like some kind of ninja/kung fu movie the're making, they have a white ninja and a black ninja which I failed to capture. A white camera man and an asian director using a home camcorder, looks like fun but I wonder if I'll get to see the movie on the big screen?

If You Believe In Fairies..

If you believe in fairies then they are real and they can all be found at The Fairies Tree, the fairies sanctuary.The Fairies Tree in The Fitzroy Gardens was carved by Miss Ola Cohn between 1931 to 1934 on the stump of a dead Red Gum trees believed to be well over 300 years in age. Miss Cohn worked on the likenesses of fairies, dwarfs, gnomes, jackass, koalas, flying foxes and a host of Australian animals and birds.
In 1977 the trunk was extracted from the ground for chemical treatment and removal of rotted wood. It is then remounted on a concrete base to prolong its life.
