Choy Sang Ley Loh! Free 4D Numbers!

Choy Sang ley loh! (God of Wealth is here!) Choy Sang came to visit me today and make me a rich man! That's what happened this morning on my way to work when another car hit my car from behind! This happened as I was waiting for my chance to enter the freeway but the other driver was in a bit of a hurry.

Its a bit hard to see the scratches & paint rubs on the bumper bar but its quite visible when viewing it personally. If you're into buying 4D I'm letting you see my numbers on my number plate. Sorry I had to pixelate the first portion of the plate (they're alphabets anyway) coz I still like my privacy.

From this angle the damage is more visible with that big gap the bumper bar is jutting away from the main body.

This is the guilty car that rammed into me! Its a Subaru Imprezza and it only had some superficial damages to the paints which are not even visible here!

Anyway we swapped details but lucky my car is insured comprehensively which means I get my car fixed with nothing for me to pay, all taken of by the insurance company. I've already booked my car in for a repair next week and they'll even supply me courtesy taxi to get me where I need to go after I've dropped my car off and when I go pick it up!

As for the other driver, he can deal with my insurance company. Its good that I don't have to worry about money, quotations and repairs when they're all taken care of by my insurance company.

So after that little accident, I felt Choy Sang was with me so I went to buy myself a Tattslotto ticket (no 4D here) for tonight's draw! Sorry again I can't show you my winning numbers but feel free to use my car's and the other car's numbers to buy yourself some 4D tickets. You may have to add or mix those numbers to get the winning numbers but at least I've given you a good start to your New Year like the Choy Sang has done for me! Kong Hei Fatt Choy!

Year Of The Doggies, Woof! Woof!

Its the year of the dogs so its only appropriate that I do a post on the most loyal companion a man or a woman can have; our canine friends!

Let me introduce you to the canine family at my in-laws house. This is Ally and she's very shy so she hides under the table everytime someone strange comes to the house which makes her a bad watch dog but lucky she's a pretty face so she doesn't have to guard the house!

This is Ally's mother Bou Yi (if you're cantonese you'd know what it means, I suck at cantonese but I think its something to do with precious?). Ally looks like Bou Yi, in fact they look so alike that I can't tell them apart sometimes. Well, she is her mother's daughter after all.

Don't be scared but this is Lucky, Ally's father. Lucky is going blind (poor old dog) but he can still see a little so he doesn't go bumping his head against the walls, not yet anyway. I think he's got cataract but we can't afford to give him an operation to fix it.

Lucky is very friendly and he likes to play ball with anyone who's willing to play with him! Just kick the ball and he'll bring it back to you so you can kick it again so he can keep fetching it for you over and over and over till you get sick of it but not for him, he'll play till the cows come home (figure of speech).

Happy New Year of the Doggies! Woof! Woof!

Chinese New Year In Chinatown

Today is the 1st day of Chinese New Year and I would like to take you to Chinatown in the city for the celebration there.

This would be the biggest celebration among all the New Year celebrations taking place all over the city. They had to close up Lt. Bourke Street from Exhibition Street to Swanston Street and Russell Street from Lonsdale to Bourke Streets.

There's the Dragon Trail Dance that traversed all over Chinatown.

I lost count of how many lion dance troupes there were in the streets, they have to have that many to cater for all the businesses all over town!

Pray to Buddha for good luck! The queue was too long for me to wait my turn, plus I've already done it last night.

Auntie wanting to be young again or trying to score herself a new man!

Pray to more Buddhas, Oh Mi Tuo Fu! Sang Jai! Sang Jai!

This is the biggest crowd I've seen in Chinatown in a long time. Everybody wants to come down here so they feel better that they've celebrated their New Year!

And as usual there's always the food stalls..my stomache is growling so I'm gonna pig out now! See you next time! KONG HEI FATT CHOY!!!

Lots and lots of stalls selling New Year stuffs.
There's always someone who wants to be famous!
This Sifu here can write these characters for you to take home for free. Well, not for free but they expect you to make a donation!
Orchids are always popular during Chinese New Year.

2 Litre Ribena

Today is an inane day and I'm just going to post an inane post coz tomorrow is Chinese New Year Eve and I'm nowhere even near the New Year spirit as most chinese are in Malaysia!

Look at the size of this bottle of Ribena! Have you ever seen Ribena in this size? I haven't, that's why I was shock when I went to buy my Ribena the other day at the supermarket. Its in a 2 litre bottle now when it used to be in a litre bottle. Good leh, more value for your money!

It comes with a handy handle at the back so you can pour the syrup out carefully without making a mess of yourself! I love drinking Ribena eversince I was little and I still drink it today. Its choke full of vitamin C and more importantly tastes excellent! Tell me about your favourite drink you still drink from childhood.

Happy Chinese New Year to all the chinese bloggers around the world! I won't be on hiatus during the festive days so do drop by to say hello coz its going to be very quiet since most bloggers will be on new year break.

We're All Aussies!

Today is Australia Day, the day when every Dick, Jane and Harry can proudly show the world that though we are from different parts of the world, we all call Australia home and we are all proud to be Aussies!

The City of Melbourne has lots of activities happening today, one of which is the People's March sponsored by Australian Unity where Australians from different backgrounds come together to celebrate Australia Day! First in the march is the cattlemen of the highlands, these are the original Men from Snowy River!

Next we have the chinese community and their lion and dragon dance troupes.

These adorable girls are representing the Burmese community.
The Turkish Association proudly carrying the Australian flags.

The Falun Dafa who could never be able to do this in China!

Part of the Falun Dafa groups, pretty fan dancing ladies in pink!

Australia has a big Indian community and these are just the Victorian branch only!

The Sikhs with their dance & music like in the Bollywood movies!

Last but not least, the volunteers of the Commonwealth Games who deserve all the support we can give them, they do it for love and nothing else!

After that we have the aerial stun display by the Royal Australian Air Force flying over the city skyline!

People were all keen to follow the parade down to the Alexandra Gardens where there are heaps of fun filled entertainments for the whole family!

This is a patriotic day for all Australians. Aussies! Aussies! Aussies! Oi! Oi! Oi!

Rasa Malaya

Last Saturday was a really hot day, the temperature sky-rocketed to 40 degrees celsius and the last thing you wanted to worry about is cooking over a hot stove for dinner.

My friend called up proposing to eat out at this malaysian restaurant in Doncaster that we've never been before. It is right opposite Tai Pan Restaurant.

We went and the place was quite full of people. The restaurant was decorated with lots of Chinese New Year stuff but I've come to savour the food, not the decors. Even the waitress were dressed like Singapore Airlines stewardess! It was very hot inside and we were seated in the hottest corner of the restaurant.

I could see 3 air-conditioners in the place but none were working and we were sweating like pigs! How were we going to enjoy our meals?

The foods arrived..one of my friends had nasi lemak which tasted quite ordinary, nothing spectacular.

Terese ordered Hor Fun and it looked quite horrible, it tasted OK and she gives it 1 thumb up. No point on presentation though.

Another friend and I ordered Hokkien noodle. This is one of my favourite dishes but they've ruined it! It wasn't very tasty at all and I'm giving 2 thumbs down!

Overall we didn't enjoy our meals at this restaurant, the broken air-conditioners had a lot to do with it. I don't think I'll be coming back here any day soon!

Volvo Ocean Race Melbourne Stopover

The Volvo Ocean Race started in Vigo, Spain on the 12th of November 2005 and finished its first leg of the race at Cape Town in South Africa where Leg 2 started on the 2nd of January 2006 and finishes in Melbourne over these few days.

Melbourne is hosting the stopover event for the race at Waterfront City which is next to New Quay. This follows a month long celebrations of summer funs including water-based activities and Food and Wine Festivals.

If you like to know more about the race, you can get more information here and information on the Melbourne stopover can be found here. I'm just showing you a very brief introduction to Melbourne's stopover venue at the Docklands.

This is where you come to check out all the excitements, the Waterfront City Race Village where you get to see the yachts in the race, the teams and the media centre for the race.

Here we can see the 2 yachts that arrived in Melbourne first over the weekend; ABN Amro I and ABN Amro II on dry docks for repairs.

Apart from the competing yachts, you get to check out the other yachts docked at the marina which are not in the race.

If you are interested in yacht racing then maybe you can start with blokarting before you advance to the real thing!

The events down here at Waterfront City will last a month and there's always activities to thrill everyone so I think I'll be coming down here every couple of days during lunch to check it out...till then, I think I'll give blokarting a go!
