Street Party

Fairfield had a special event going on last Sunday, they had to close Station Street to accomodate this special event. This special event is called the Open Mind Day and everyone is invited to enjoy the day.The event was organised by the traders on Station Street in Fairfield to create awareness of mental illness in the general community. Did you know that 1 in 5 of us has this illness?
They even had a special stall set up for everyone to obtain information into this illness and hopefully we as part of the community would be more tolerant and concern for those who are unfortunate enough to have this disease.
With the street closed a lot of restaurants were able to set up tables on the street to accomodate more customers and they even hire entertainers to keep everyone amused.
Some have roast pig and lamb on the spit, the lamb looked like a dog to me and that turned me off! But I'll still eat them.
It was a warm day and the ice cream shop was doing really well. I've never seen queue lining out into the street before!
Even the japanese shop Matsuya had a stall outside selling japanese pancakes, sushi and japanese ice cream too! Tell you a secret, these are not japanese but chinese pretending to be japanese selling japanese food. Stupid Ang-moh can't tell the difference, to them we all look the same!
There are lots of rides and games for the kids too like the giant snake & ladder board game.

And who could go past the fashion parade showing off the clothes from the op shop. I know these are not professional models but they could not afford them so these young volunteers are doing just fine. Well done Fairfield!
