Welcome to All Nations Park in Northcote. In 1999 a firm of landscape architects was given a brief by the City of Darebin to design a park based around the use of recycled materials.
Repeat Plastics worked closely with both architects and the council and the result has been a recreational area of which the city can be justly proud.
Within 2 years a tip site, that in the past had been a quarry, was converted into parklands with a lake and streams surrounded by boardwalks, traversed by bridges and containing a children's playground and picnic areas and a lookout over the city skyline.
Components made with recycled plastic include the boardwalks, bridge decking, seating, signage, tables and benches including tables with wheelchair access and 600 perimeter bollards.
Probably more recycled plastic per hectare than anywhere else in Australia.
The resulting facility was named All Nations Park in recognition of the contribution made by people of all nationalities who call the City of Darebin home.
