Last week when I went to buy my DVD recorder from Aldi, I neglected to tell you that I also bought another gadget from there! Its a DV camcorder, for only $179!
This is the Traveler DV5040 camcorder which has a 64 mb internal memory but will take optional SD card up to 2 gb of memory! And it comes with 3 years manufacturer warranty for peace of mind.
The whole package comes with the camcorder, a tripod (now I have too many tripods), a case, 4 rechargeable batteries with the charger, USB cable, AV cable, earphone, software cd and manual.
Apart from taking video, it can also take 5 megapixel pictures, record voice and plays mp3 files. The only thing I had to get for it is the 2 gb SD card which I bought for $105. You can record in 640 resolution or 320 resolution and there's 3 qualities of video to choose from.
Why would you want to record in a quality lower than the best! So a 2 gb card will record just over 1 hour of video but if you use the lowest quality, you can do over 3 hours. I'm still learning all the functions so let me get back to you on how good it is.
See how small it is in my hand. Do you think you'll get a bit of fun with this little gadget? Recording your children's birthdays, family gatherings, what you do under the sheets...

Okay, I'm right here waiting for you to post the pics of you and your wifey 'under-the-sheets' now. *wink wink*
we dun have this type of store here. =(
Er, I happen to own one of this camera, which I have been using for the past two years. Sadly, I must say I didn't really like it, although it's packed with features. Mine isn't called Traveler, it's iPocketDV.
Zooming kinda sucks, no optical zoom. Surprisingly, mine's 6 megapixel :P The rest should be the same. It gets really annoying at times because you just cant take good shots at night. You'll get the hang of it after some time :D Good thing you have a Sony one :)
Oh, all the negatives only, I noticed. Erm, the video recordings aren't too bad, actually. Just can't really record when there's bad lighting. Okay, here I go again. Sorry about the lengthy comment :รพ
Btw, mine looks EXACTLY like yours, except the name part. LOL. Maybe one day I should have an N73 vs. iPocketDV as an entry :)
che-cheh: yalor, u want one?
me: that one has to go to my pay site!
sengkor: nothing! honest! nothing more!
titoki: take a number & get in line!
cynthia: then fly over here!
SA: ok..lemme get my ticket ready..
ray: i appreciate an honest opinion, thank you! i can't expect much from this camera since its so cheap..more like a toy than anything else, i'll just use it in daylight!
Hi:
These are now available in the UK from Thursday for £69.99.
Any further views on whether it's a good buy before I go to get one?
Thanks,
John
