Remember Baba House, the malaysian restaurant I posted about 3 weeks ago? It was a really good restaurant with good foods and now I've found another restaurant of the same owner that serves equally good foods! Its Sumo Japanese Bistro and its located just 2 doors away from Baba House!
Yes the 2 restaurants actually have a common owner; a chinese man from Macau but has lived in Malaysia and now calls Australia home. This new restaurant serves japanese foods and its called Sumo Japanese Bistro with aussie breakfast! (I guess they have to adjust to local taste)
Its actually 2 shops joint together so its roomier. Don't know why but I always see japanese restaurants run by chinese! Oh well, the angmohs can't tell the difference I supposed as long as the foods are good I don't give a rat's ass.
I tried the Sumo Bento which comes with rice, teriyaki beef, tori kara (chicken) and salads in a box. I'm no expert in japanese cuisine but I liked it very much. 2 thumbs up from me!
Years ago I found a real japanese eatery in Daimaru that served the best udon soup in Melbourne but since Daimaru closed I've been searching for the next best udon all over town until now. The Nabe Yaki Udon has tempura prawn, chicken, beef and vegetable in thick noodle soup with egg in a clay pot. Its as close as it can get to that udon from Daimaru so I'm happy I've found the next best udon in Melbourne! 2 thumbs up again!

speaking of daimaru... i kinda miss that place. not because of the things they sold, but to think that i've stood the test of time, and have been here for so long.
che-cheh: sure! no problem! :)
mei: u must've been here a long time if u remember daimaru, ur practically an aussie now! how long has it been?
Hey! daimaru only closed down a few years back to make way for the "new" melbourne central! You make me sound ancient mannn!!! hehehehe.
mei: i'm not saying ur ancient, i was here before daimaru was even open, does that make me pre-historic! :|
