OK ladies and genitalmen, this is not a sponsored post so you don't have to run away. I just wanna share with you guys a very good product I've been using for many years now but I didn't seem to see them being used in Malaysia where the sun everyday very big and hot!
I'm talking about shade sails used to block out the sun if your house has a problem area where you get very strong sun like in my back door where it's facing west so it gets the afternoon sun everyday. What you need is a ready made shade sail and some hooks and crooks to tie it.
First make 2 O-ring screws into your wall or awning and attach 2 corners of the shade sail to them using the clip hooks. I really dunno what those gadgets are called so I just made them up but you know what I'm talking about right?
Once the 2 corners are attached proceed to attach the other 2 corners using the hooks that have the straps on so you can use them as ties to the wall or to any strong structure that will support the shade sail even in strong wind.
I attached it to my fence which is strong enough but notice I have a ratchet device that I can tighten the strap so you get a bit of tension on the strap thus giving the shade sail a good and firm 'pull' like tightening your badminton racket lidat!
Job done! See...nice and cool underneath it. This one is 3.6 metre square but you can get 5 metre square one if you want it bigger. You can even get triangle shape also but if you have funny funny shape in your backyard that won't fit these then you can get people to custom made for you but cost a bit more lah.
This way in Summer I not sked of the big sun in the back of my house but I take them off in Winter to let in the warm sun. So you like onot? Dunno if you can get in Malaysia but if you can't but you still want I buy for you lah. You chia me kopi-o enuff liao!

I know of some people's whose underwear is about that size. LOL
Looks very very good. I think it's pretty decorative. The problem with Malaysian people is most of them live in link houses which do not have the space. Most houses don't even have garden.
I personally think this thing would look good in my garden. How much is it wor?
Haiyor..now only I know what are those sails on the OZ houses. When I was in Melbourne last time, I was wondering why they got sails on their houses and thot they siao-siao a bit. Baru learn a new lesson today.
How much are they to buy?
I know the council ones keep getting stolen at the local baseball park.
Wah I wish i knew about this when my feet still touched the ground lol... btw you've been tagged.
That would be handy here in Texas too!
This one nice! Can import one for me ar?
Hi Wuching,
This is a very creative idea.
In the state, we can get retractable awnings, eg this site :
http://www.retractableawnings.com/
http://www.shadetreecanopies.com/
but I thought yr idea is excelleng cos it would definitely cost less than retractable awnings here we have.
The only draw back I can think of is how about houses that do not have backyard or fence ? eg if u live in a 50acres of land :)-
Is the sail stuff made in Aust ? U know this could be a big selling item here in the US, especically Florida state where we practically have all yr round sun !
How abt getting it manufactured in Malaysia and pattened it in US and mkt it in the US ? Ha ha ha, we can be hit big on this one :)- ha ha ha.
U know I am always looking out for products that can be pattern cos we are going to get the royalties right for many generation to come !
Cheers !
Kayatan
Wah nice nice.
wei, damn nice wo!
If we put this at malaysia, i think it will torn in no time, becoz here suka suka big sun, suka suka raining big big .. how? kejap sun, kejap rain... not good for weather here
*laughing at cocka's comment* hey, nice. i like. but got no place to hang wohhhhhhhh...hang in toilet can ah??
my house generallly quite cooling thru out the yr cos we r just located next to the park..there is a pond too =)
cocka: HAHAHAHAHA..who is it?
helen: my house is linked to my neighbour's also & my backyard is not big at all, you can install them anywhere you like..i can't remember how much i paid for mine, i think AUD165?
5xmom: hehehehe..so now u know, do u think u like the idea?
dabido: custom made ones can be expensive but councils have lots of money from the ratepayers!
paris beaverbanks: huh? your feet dun touch the ground? u float around like a ghost ah? hahahahaha..& thanks for the tag!
SA: do u have them in Texas?
wong: can! u want small one or big one? square one or triable one?
kayatan: we have retractable awnings as well but they are expensive, this is cheaper. if you dun have supporting structures you can erect strong supporting posts to tie them to.
che-cheh: wah yes yes
cely: not at all! these are made to withstand the sun & rain, they have 10 years warranty!
me: can if you like it in the toilet or use them as giant hammock!
cynthia: u so lucky then!
Looks nice. Birds will shit on them or not? :)
neo: birds do shit on them!
yay mate.. i think i'd be stayin for summer. and squat in ur house. lolz
alex: woi! whats ur phone number now ah?
