Viva Italia!

I kept finding myself going back to the Federation Square and last weekend I did just that again. There was an event going on though I got there quite late.

Buon giorno! It was an Italian festivity of something, Italian National Day I believe it was to mark the 60th anniversary of the Italian republic.

There were tons of Italians packed infront of the main stage where Premier Steve Bracks and Lord Mayor John So were giving speeches to preside the opening ceremony.

I was hoping to catch some Italians in their traditional costumes but unfortunately these are all I could find. Nice costumes though and the kids are adorable too!

Mama Mia! A choir of Italian divas singing Italian folk songs which I had not an inkling of what they were singing about! They were quite good and the older audience loved them.

Followed by a play depicting a funny sketch which I didn't find very funny..but the crowd loved them! So what do I know? Mi scusi.

Italians love their expresso coffee. And they love drinking coffee alfresco style! You can get a nice meal of pasta and pizza while having your cup of expresso here right next to the stage.

More importantly Italians are passionate about their cars and most of the best cars of the world come from Italy like this Ferrari and Meserati! Ooh..shiny red sports car..

Oh this Alfa Romeo which is just as snazzi though I never like the Alfas, no offense but their engines make really bad noise after a few years..serious!

And who can walk past the Fiat! One of the best known Italian automobiles. I had more fun checking out these cars than watching the entertainment on stage, really! Arrivederci!
