Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony Preview

Ok enough camwhoring, lets get back to normal blogging. Do you know that its only 1 week to the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne? Isn't that exciting? Its going to madness in Melbourne!

No one knows what the opening ceremony on the 15th would be like but this is a sneak preview of what to expect, fishes!

There's a row of different fishes representing the 72 countries that will be competing in the Games and they stretch from the Swan Street Bridge all the way down to the Prince Phillips Bridge.

Australia is represented by the Southern Shortfin Eel that inhabit the Yarra river. I've never tasted them before, I don't think anyone has since the water is so very dirty!

Brunei is represented by the Koran Angelfish that are found on Brunei's coastline. The stripes on the fish appears to be Arabic script hence the Koran Angelfish!

I'm sure all Malaysians would be happy for the Golden Arawana to represent Malaysia for its rarity and value by all Malaysian Chinese. We all know how ridiculously expensive they can be sold in Malaysia!

I didn't count how many fishes are there but there are 2 type of fishes on either sides of the floating barge so it may well have all 72 countries represented. There are I think huge lights on either sides of the fish so all I can imagine on opening night would be some kind of light show here on the river before the ceremony continues into the Melbourne Cricket Ground stadium for the Grand Opening! I can't wait!

Flower Horn is bred in Malaysia. Ppl kept it for luck and according to some, the pattern on its side sometimes reveal a 4-D number.

You go hentam gau gau lar. lol
