All for $30

At work we use Fiskars scissors a lot. They are good scissors; easy on the hands and good for cutting but there's a spring in the scissor that keeps breaking all the time. We have 5 of these scissors all with broken springs but they do have limited lifetime warranty on them.

The kiamsiap boss sent Mrs. kiamsiap boss to buy another pair today but later found the office of this scissors' company so he called them up. To everyone' delight the company decided to send over 5 springs to replace the broken springs. Everyone's happy and the kiamsiap boss decided to return the new scissor he bought today. Not after he's opened the packaging and used it already. He's going to attempt to re-pack it back into its original packaging, held with sticky tapes...all for $30. Kiamsiap to the max!

Last minute shopping

Well what do you know? Christmas is less than a month away and I still have a lot of shopping to do! Thank goodness for CouponChief.com where I can still get lots of discount coupons for my online shopping.

This way I save time and beat the crowd at the shops and save money too, how good is that? Let’s see; I need to get some coupons for Walmart and Target because I always find some good deals there. Then there’s also Breck’s and Best Buy

Time is set

Well the air-con installer did call on Monday night to organise a time to install my air-conditioner. The time has been set for Tuesday the 4th of December in the afternoon so I expect to be sleeping in comfort that night.

I also rang up the salesman to make sure my air-con has arrived and that the installer will pick it up that day because when I talked to the installer before he didn't know that he was supposed to pick it up. I don't want him to rock up on the day with no air-con to install!

My favourite romance reads

I enjoy a good book everyday and one of my favorite types of novels is Romance Novels. There are many good romance novel writers in the world like Jo Beverley, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Marie Morning. But my most favorite author will have to be Lynn Kurland who writes paranormal romance novels like If I had You, This Is All I Ask and My Heart Stood Still. All these are some of my favorite novels from her; the stories are filled with entertaining characters, witty dialogues and supernatural themes.

I especially like the way she portrays her heroes in the stories as larger than life, manly, strong and yet can be gentle. The heroines are beautiful, fearless and courageous. The secondary characters are usually entertaining, funny and amusing adding to the funny side of the storylines. The stories are usually set upon the present days but eventually traveled back into time to medieval periods where knights in shinny armors fight for the hands of beautiful maidens. There’s usually the presence of meddling ghosts to stir up the stories but are never menacing.

I have read a lot of Lynn Kurland’s novels and loved every one of them. The next novel I’m looking forward to reading is When I Fall In Love which is her latest novel.

Is the unit at your house?

This morning I got a call from the air con installer. He said he had a cancellation this afternoon so he can do my job this afternoon. Yippee! "That's great, when are you coming?" I asked him to which he asked "Is the unit at your house?"

I said no, I said the salesman said the installer will pick up the unit from the shop when he comes to install it. Then the installer said he'll call the shop first and I just wait for him to call back. That was this morning, I have yet to receive another call from the installer. So you say leh, tulan onot? Potong stim nia, I thought I'll get my air con install today but then I get disappointed liao. KNNCCB.

$1578 poorer

We noticed a special air-conditioner sale on this weekend at Clive Peeters and decided to go have a look. Haven't decided to buy one just yet, just want to know a bit more about which one will suit us best and how much.

But after an hour there we walked out $1578 poorer; we bought the air-conditioner. It's the Fujitsu model shown above which costs $899 but the installation is another $679 taking the total to $1578. No choice, I can't install myself so have to pay through my nose to get it installed. At least when the next heat wave comes we will be safe and cool from the heat which is what we wanted all these years.

I've painted Jango and Boba...

Just a quick update on the progress with my new little scale modeling project. I've painted Jango and Boba Fett but not very nicely done though. Never mind, they'll do just fine.

I also had to cut Jango's legs off so he can fit in his pilot seat! Goes to show the scale isn't that accurate huh? Wasn't sure about coloring the interior of the cockpit, from the pictures I've seen its all gray and since the kits come in gray I thought I'll just leave it as it is. Only had to paint a bit here and there in silver that's all. Next I'm making the wings of the ship...

No time to pangsai!

Its been a really busy couple of days and it doesn't look like its going to ease up a bit all week. Suddenly everyone wants their work done right away. No time to rest.

No time to blog or write paid posts though there's no ops left for PR0 anymore! No time to pangsai! More importantly no time to go visit your blogs and kacau your comment box, sorry ya. Have to go back to work liao.

Garden lights

Adding some lights in your garden gives your garden a more romantic atmosphere in the evening but a lot of these lightings require installing wires and cables all over the place which can be messy and dangerous.

Installing solar lights instead will save you all the hassle and electricity too. All they need to light up is the sun which is free and there are many different kinds of solar lights available from a simple path lamp to an exotic feature that will also complement the garden decors like a fish pond.

Start with the cockpit first

I've decided to start my new scale model today and I'm going to take my sweet sweet time doing this one because it's very complicated judging by the instruction that came with it. I just hope I don't stuff it up!

Following the instruction I started with the cockpit and the extra seating bay. So this ship will seat 5 people including the pilot. Not much need to be done here; just color the seats with flat black, chrome silver and glue everything together. The next section will be difficult because I'll be painting Jango and Boba Fett and they're soooooo tiny!

It finally died

Today the power supply in my desktop PC blew up. It was bound to happen coz its been making this grinding noise from the fan. Sometimes I stuck a satay stick in it to stop the noise but that overheated it and today it finally died.

But lucky I have a few old PCs at home that I can salvage the parts from. I found an atx power supply from an old IBM machine and it still works. Problem is it doesn't have enough power outlets coz I have too many drives hooked up to the PC! I'll just have to get a cable splitter, cheaper than getting another power supply.

Consolidate all your student loans

Education should be made available free for everyone but that’s another story. Most of us college students and graduates unfortunately have to borrow Private Student Loans to further our education and then pay it off with high interest. If you’re a parent with multiple children taking up multiple student loans like PLUS loans then this can get quite expensive.

The important thing is to shop around; there are still student loans that are cheaper than what you’re currently paying. Try Student Loan Consolidation so instead paying several high interest loans you consolidate all these loans into one low interest loan and you could cut your payments in half. Next Student can help you with all your Student Loan Consolidation need as well as getting a new student loan for students from high school to college. Apply now on their website, just complete the four step online application and you could soon be on your way to paying less each month to ease your family budget.

Consent to do the job

Just a quick update on the repair job to my laundry room ceiling; today I received a mail from the repairer, the one that came to look at the job the other day. Apparently they got the job to repair my ceiling.

But before they can start work they need my written consent for them to go ahead with the repair. So troublesome, I had to sign the contract they wrote for me letting them repair my ceiling. *roll eyes* Summore got a survey to see if I'm happy with their work onot. I'll fill that one in later after they've done the job.

New lighting

I’m thinking of changing the ceiling lighting in my house. At the moment we have boring down lights in every room of the house so I’m thinking of getting some really nice looking lighting to brighten up the house a bit more.

At Lighting Show Place they have all kinds of ceiling lighting like flush mount, pendants and chandeliers. Well maybe chandeliers won’t look that good in my house but I think the pendants ones look quite good.

$990 to repair the ceiling

Did I tell you the repairman came to check out the hole in my laundry room before? Well he did and today I got a call from the insurance company telling me that they've been quoted $990 to fix the ceiling!

So it looks like its worth me spending $200 for excess to claim this repair. I have decided to go with the claim and let the professional do it. This way I can blog on the repair! All I'm waiting on now is a call from the repairer to make a time.

Its almost done

The snowspeeder is coming along nicely. In fact I'm almost finish except for the guns and decals. Although its an easy one to build I did hit a couple of snags today while I was building it.

I blame it all on the instruction which wasn't clear enough. It tells me to put the back engine in first so I did but I put it a little too far in front causing the underneath cover not to line up with the top cover nicely.

So I had to take them apart and start again, just the bottom cover and the engine that is and I decided to spray paint the parts where dried glue was visible just to cover it resulting in micro paint dots on the glass panel. Damn I can't get rid of the dots!

Its here!

This morning I was lucky to be still at home when the postman came or else I'd have to pick up my parcel from the post office again. Its the Slave 1 scale model kit I've been waiting from Japan and its finally here.

It took 20 days for it to arrive where as the last parcel I received from them was sent via EMS and took 3 days only so I must remind myself not to send via SAL anymore.

This is a popular kit modelers around the world are raving about and it is twice as large as the other models I've made even though the ratio is 1:72. Anyway looks like I'll be having a lot of fun with this one but I won't start on it till I finish the snowspeeder I'm still working on.

Too easy and not challenging at all

Just a quick update on the progress of that snowspeeder I'm starting on yesterday. Like I said yesterday this model is so easy to build after the Fine Molds models I've been making.

I started off with the pilots and cockpit first; the cockpit I decided to spray it gray but the pilots had to be painted manually. They were quite easy to paint too because they were big.

One thing I noticed about the pilots is that they both have long arms and short legs that make them look like chimpanzees! Reminds me not to get anymore of AMT/ERTL products anymore, they are too easy and not challenging at all!

Ball breaking customer

Don't you just hate ball breaking customers? We have one of those; the ones that want good and cheap as well. The work she gives us are all difficult and time consuming but she doesn't want to spend more than what's supposed is for a simple basic job. For the amount of time and hassle we have to go through just for her it is not even worth it.

Problem is the boss i snot happy that she's hogging the time we need to spend on her work and told us to cut her off but when she calls him up he is going all stupid when talking to her. What a wank! That's the kind of people we have to deal with everyday. Frustrating really dealing with ball breaking customers and stupid boss!

Something to occupy my time

With all my models done and another still on its way from Japan my hands very itchy today. So I went down to the city to get myself a small model to work on first before the one from Japan arrives.

Its the snowspeeder from The Empire Strikes Back but its made by AMT/ERTL an American company. I must say the quality is not as good as the Japanese Fine Molds that I've been working on. They're big and lacking in detail and from my experience with the Fine Molds products this one is a piece of cake for me. No challenge at all but just something to occupy my time while I wait for the Fine Molds model to arrive.

The Starfighter is finished

I've finally finished building the Jedi Starfighter model. Took me a while but it's finally done today. I must say this is by far the most difficult one to make especially the hyperdrive ring.

There were too many decals to apply on this model and I made so many mistakes which I had to touch up with paints later. It was so time consuming as well.

But it was challenging and I enjoyed making it. Now I'm waiting for Slave 1 to arrive from Japan so I can start on another one. In the meantime I can rest for a bit.

Finally it's here

I never thought I'll live to see this day come; today I received my first ever Google cheque! Yes, first ever! Don't laugh but that's how bad my Adsense has been doing all these years.

I've been with Google Adsense ever since I started this blog so long ago but back then when I was still very innocent and not corrupted by the Dark side for the love of the greenbacks. My ads were placed where they were guaranteed not to generate any revenue for me. LOL. Only later when I started writing paid posts did I get serious with Adsense and that's when the revenue started to come in, slowly though but still coming in until today when I finally got paid for letting them advertise on my blogs. So hopefully the next cheque won't be as long coming as this one though.

Rise Interest Rise

Interest rate has gone up again today. The Reserve Bank decided to raise another quarter percent bringing the official interest rate to 6.75% meaning an average mortgage will cost around $40 a month more.

This is not looking good for the government while they're on an election campaign. Now more and more struggling families will decide to vote for the opposition because they are angry, angry with the skyrocketing interest rate and angry with the government's Industrial Relation Law that looks after the employers more than the employees. Well maybe it is time for a change, the government's been in power for over 10 years now so a change of government might be a good thing. I'm still undecided on who I should vote for come the 26th.

Melbourne Cup Day

Its Melbourne Cup Day today the reason for my 4 day weekend which ends today. Didn't expect me to say this but I'm quite glad to be going back to work tomorrow because I've been cooped up at home these 4 days doing not much at all.

But surprisingly I've done the most in these 4 days; I managed to wash the 2 cars, mowed the lawns front and backyard, did a bit of gardening, write a couple of paid posts and did a bit of scale modeling also.

Its a 3 day week this week so the working week is going to fly through real quick and before I know it it'll be the weekend again!

Soups

Three days have gone past and we haven't done much. I have my scale model to work on while Terese likes to read her books. So tonight we thought we go out to eat just to get out of the house a bit.

We went to our favorite eatery in Richmond and we ordered soups for starters. Terese ordered the Vietnamese sweet and sour prawns. She likes soups like that but it's a bit too sour for me.

I'm a wooz, I prefer something tame like asparagus and crab meat soup. Tastes good but it's can soup I believe. For $4 they're not going to cook fresh one lah. Then we had crispy skin chicken and seafood hot pot with rice. Too hungry to take anymore picture sorry ya!

Christmas shopping made easy

Isn’t it exciting? Is that time of the year again and I can’t wait for the big day to come, I’m talking about Christmas! But I’ve yet to get my Christmas shopping done, lucky for me there’s CouponChief.com where I know I can get all my online shopping done and save a bundle.

For the missus I’m going with Diamonds International where I’m sure I can find something she’s going to love. Then of course not forgetting the dog I’ll have a look Pet Smart for something to him happy.

The fun of scale modeling

Day 2 of building the Jedi Starfighter and I've just realized how much work this model is going to take me. There's so many detail parts to work on and the decals are so very hard to apply.

I gave the body a gloss white one coat spray with Tamiya paint and decided to apply the decals before putting them all together or else I'll have more hassle with the decals later. Some of the decals don't fit properly and I had to cut and modified a bit here and there. I guess that's the fun of scale modeling.
