Where Do You Get The Best Butter Prawns In Melbourne?

Sometimes its hard trying to find the foods that I like in Melbourne so I have to search high and low looking for the best place that has my favourite foods from Malaysia. And when I find 1 that I really like I keep going back there even if its far far away!

We have been coming to PJ Malaysian Restaurant for years now but I think its time I blog about it. Just so happened that we went there on Saturday to meet up with friends for dinner.

Named after Petaling Jaya this restaurant is especially famous for its one special dish, the butter prawns! The place attracts a big crowd every Saturday night so bookings is most essential.

We had the typical chinese dinner with rice and a few other dishes to go with it so we ordered the Crispy Honey Beef which is not too bad but its nothing to be excited about. You can get that just about anywhere nowadays.

We also ordered the Sambal Eggplant which is one of the 'must have' everytime we come here. Talk about small serving! I think the servings have gone smaller and smaller everytime I come here! Haha!

Next we have the Chilli Fish which by the way is bream. Nice but again nothing to write home about coz once you have fish, you've had fish!

This is the dish the restaurant is so famous for! The Butter Prawns! Shelled Butter Prawns with curry leaves, talk about yummy! I haven't tasted any better from elsewhere so they're still number 1 for butter prawns in Melbourne! So now you know where to get the best butter prawns in Melbourne, its PJ in Glen Waverley!

When Sarawak Club is rebuilt again and the restaurant is functioning again, and if you ever come back to Sarawak (in particular Kuching) again, I will bring you to eat the butter prawns there. Then you will know what real butter prawns taste like.

We went there for dinner recently, just for the butter prawns, after seeing the delicious pictures on your blog.

The prawns we got were tiny, lacked flavour and extremely expensive! For $24, we got 9-10 small prawns, which were not even cooked in the shell.

The butter prawns at Kotaraya, Clayton are better, but nothing like the real thing in KL.
